Club Referees

Dear Players, Parents and ALL supporters of the Williamstown Lacrosse Club,

Welcome to season 2022!

Every year, we as a club need to provide Club referees to help officiate our games on the weekend. It’s an important role that we need to fulfil as part of our Club’s responsibilities to the sport.

We would like ALL of our players from U16’s upwards to complete the exam and to be available to referee a game here and there throughout the year. The more of us that can complete the exam the more evenly we can distribute the games to all of the players. It is also open to any parents or club supporters who may wish to further their knowledge of the sport.

A match payment is paid to all accredited referees by Lacrosse Victoria. Williamstown Lacrosse Club matches this amount dollar for dollar for all of our Club referees. It is our intention that the full match payment will be paid to our club referees on a monthly basis. We would actively encourage all the members of our U16 junior’s team to complete the exam, where the benefits are twofold; earning some additional pocket money, whilst additionally gaining a better insight into the great game of lacrosse.

From a legal liability perspective, only accredited referees are able to officiate a lacrosse game. It is therefore a minimum requirement that the level 1 exam is successfully completed. The pass mark is 80%. Fortunately, the exam is open book with no time limits for completion.

Please see the links below to access the level 1 exam (and the current rules…..for all those who may have forgotten them or, generally choose to ignore them 😊)
